League Rules v6.02 for NBVRL Racing 2012
NBVRL is a gentleman's league and these rules are meant to keep it competitive and fun for everyone. All drivers should know these rules, as ignorance will not be a valid excuse.
NBVRL has servers available for racing, these servers are available every night for practice sessions, however from time to time they may not show up due to problems with the Internet. All point's races are run on the NBVRL servers. The IP number used to connect to NBVRL servers can be found by visiting our Forum.
1. New Driver's New drivers are always welcome, for more information on joining NBVRL please do not hesitate to contact our Director of Racing Operations and fill out our league application. New drives will of course have to demonstrate that they are familiar with the game. All new drives will be subject to a 3 race probationary period.
2. Racing Series Selection (Cup11s, NCTS09, Winter Heat - TBA) Drivers will only have ONE number selection for all series run. All drivers are free to run in any and all series. We will have the chase in both the COT and NCTS series and then only the cars running for the chase will get reserved spots in the race.
2a. Points System NBVRL for 2012 will utlize the same points system as NASCAR. Provisional points (PP) will be awarded for all missed races by active drivers. The Max number of PP awarded will be 25. The number of drivers showing will not influence this number. 2b. Bonus Points In lieu of no chase format in either of our two major series this year, bonus points will be awarded as follows for each race. Pole winner = 1pt Led most laps = 1pt Meet the challenge (most spots gained) = 1pt Headache (most spots lost) = 1pt DieHard Racer (last place car still running) = 1pt
Bonus points will also be awarded as follows at year's end. Awarded points are based on how well each driver in each category. Only the top 5 in each category will recieve points based on their performance (as follows)
Top 5 starts : Wins : Top 5 finishes : Top 10 Finishes : Poles : Laps led : Laps completed : Miles completed
1st = 5 points 2nd = 4 points 3rd = 3 points 4th = 2 points 5th = 1 point
You must maintain your login name for the entire season in all series for scoring reasons.
3. Car files You are allowed to use your own car file if you wish or ask our resident painters NBVRL has many of them - post a request in the forum if you require one). If you choose to paint your own you must submit your car file to Bryan, Jared or Clarence before it is made available to our members so that they can put the decals and stickers of our league sponsors. Car files are available in our downloads section of the site at www.nbvrl.com. To have this uniform all car files will have to be submitted for painting decals or approval (please forward ALL car files you'll be using to our web page admin). This will save all naming issues as they will then post the cars for downloading. Members are limited to 2 paint schemes per series and your car number may only contain 1 or 2 digit numbers.
3a. Reserved numbers Number's that are reserved and may not appear in the list; they are 3, 37
4. Game function key's Know the game commands; F2 FUNCTION KEY: Your F2 key toggled shows you your relative position to other drivers on the track. If the other driver shows up RED, he is lapping you. If the other driver shows up GREEN, you are lapping him. If the other driver shows up WHITE, you are on the same lap. You will show up yellow on your screen. This is the recommended function key to use while racing because you can check your distance, and relative positioning on the track.
5. On-track The league officials will strictly enforce the following rules for each event.
5a. Race day procedures Our server usually opens at 8:30pm Atlantic time. Qualifying starts promptly at 9:45pm atlantic time. Unless requested previous to the race, Admin's will advance the server and you will be locked out for the race. So it is up to you to be there on time.
5b. During a RACE and Team Speak (TS3) Chatting during the RACE, keep it to a Minimum, there are times when the field MUST hear the Series Admin, to determine who is the Lucy Dog, to give a lap to the right driver and to issue / clear a BF if ever required.
5c. No Excessive Chatter We ask that there be no excessive chatter during the race. Too much chatter makes things confusing, especially at the start of the race. If you've been knocked out of the race and want to stick around to watch, fine! But please refrain from having to share with everyone while the race is going on. Save the chat for official messages!
5d. No Abusive Chatter Should you get spun, or hit, or just don't like the way someone drives, DO NOT AIR IT DURING THE RACE OR IN POST RACE CHAT. Save and share your replays with the racers involved. Useless chat is a distraction to all drivers. Keep it short and relevant. Profanity will not be tolerated.
5e. Follow Pace Speed Please respect the speed as laid out by the pace car. You are expected to run this speed. Example: Pace speed is 80mph, we expect you to run 80mph, not 70mph, and not 90mph. Failure to hold a steady pace speed will cause a ripple effect through the field. Do not allow a gap of more than a car length to open. While running under caution you are expected to stagger your car till you are given the one to go signal.
5f. Starts and Restarts When to pass after the start finish line on all starts and restarts. The pass may not be started till after the start finish line. Prior to crossing the start / finish line your carâ€s front bumper is not to pass the rear bumper of the car ahead of you. Anyone feels they were wrongly passed should send complaint and replay for review. Also no person should hang back and get an unfair run on someone at the green flag.
Racing Qualifying will take place at 9:45pm, there will no longer be any race restarts for first turn or first lap wrecks. Once the green flag has dropped the race will be deemed official. Every attempt will be made to insure all drivers have safely connected to the server and have been able to join prior to starting the pace lap. Series Admin reserves this right and may look at it as a case by case issue, a determining factor could be server issues.
5g. Blocking Blocking will cause accidents! . While we will tolerate a certain amount of blocking in the last few laps (10 to go) of a race to protect your position, repeated and blatant blocking under normal racing conditions is not allowed, and will be dealt with through penalties. It is considered blocking when a driver after choosing a racing line changes racing line again to prevent a pass from the car behind.
5h. Caution Laps Like NASCAR we do not race back to the caution. Once the caution comes out the field is frozen, under no circumstances are you to pass while making your way back to the start / finish line to take the yellow flag. If you are a lap down and close to the leader he may elect to let you by so you can have your lap back. He is not obligated to let you by so if for some reason you don't end up getting your lap back, please keep all snotty comments to yourself. As for the leader, when giving someone their lap back please use some common sense, should an accident happen because you came on to the brakes trying to give someone a lap back you will be held responsible.
As has been the case for the last few years, should there be a restart with 10 to go or less, the above rule is waved and you are allowed to race to keep your position as well as try and gain positions while racing back to the start / finish.
We will once again try and implement the "Lucky Dog Pass" like Nascar uses. Because there is no racing back to the line, other then when there is 10 to go we will be offering to give one lap back when there is a caution. This lap is given to the first person that is scored a lap down according to the F2 key at the time of the caution. It is very important that you understand and follow the procedure if you are getting the lucky dog pass. First a lap can only be given back under green flag racing, second if your are the recipient of a lucky dog pass, you must be at the end of the longest line, meaning you must drive through the pits on the one to go lap, if other's are pitting with you, please pull into your pit stall and let the other teams leave pit road before you exit. This will ensure you are at the tail end of the longest line. If for any reason you don't go to the end of the longest line or you end up causing someone to get a black flag you will not receive your lap.
Also with 10 laps to go or less, all lapped cars must drive through the pits on the second pace lap and return to the back of the field; this will give the lead lap cars the chance to run for the checker flag. This should make for exciting finishes.
Pit road speed is to be maintained at all times, with no exception. It's been noted in many races that driver's will speed down pit road to beat the pace car to the start / finish line, thus collecting 5 bonus points for leading a lap and restarting at the rear of the field. This process will not be tolerated and anyone caught doing so will receive a 150 point penalty.
5i. Use Tow Truck Should you find yourself damaged so badly that you can't circle around to the pits quickly, and safely, PLEASE use the tow truck. To use the tow truck, you must come to a complete stop, then press Alt+I.
5j. Be Aware of Warping / Lagging cars Severe warping can cause chaos in the race. Unfortunately, right now there's not much we can do about it. So for the time being, when cars around you begin to warp badly, we ask that you remain calm. Don't make any sudden moves, and don't try any risky passes until things clear up. If you know your connection quality and latency is causing you to warp, please consider leaving or pitting for the remainder of the race or until the connection improves. A race moderator has the authority to eject a warping car.
5k. Jumping start/restart NASCAR 2003 game will assess penalties as per NASCAR rules. Also cars are not too accelerate before the green flag flies to gain the advantage. This is also considered jumping the start here, If you are found to have jumped the start before the green flag flies, you will be assessed a 1 lap penalty after the race and scored accordingly. If you feel this has happened please forward a replay and complaint to the complaint page.
6. Disagreements and Reviews In the event of a disagreement between drivers or NBVRL Management a replay of on track events must have been saved and forwarded on to NBVRL, a well-articulated paragraph explaining the issue should be sent.
7. Putting it all together Your goal should be to finish every race you start. During the practice session and during the race try to follow the faster guys around the track. You may find that you are driving the wrong line. The key to online racing can be broken down to five components. 1. Be patient 2. Be humble 3. Learn from your mistakes 4. Admit your mistakes 5. Respect your fellow drivers
8. Feedback We encourage drivers to give us feedback on what we're doing right and wrong. Give us ideas on how we can improve the way things are done, tell us what is missing. We may not always act on your suggestions, but please feel free to tell us.
9. Complaint Process The Following is the procedure for lodging a complaint to the administration of NBVRL for an on track incident during a race.
a. You must after the race send a detailed report of the incident to the administration of NBVRL through the complaints page within 2 day of the race. The report must detail the incident, Must also include if possible the saved replay of the incident or the laps involved, the parties involved, and anything you feel is needed to resolve it.
b. The Complaint will then be forwarded to the other member or members involved who will then have 2 day to respond with there side of the story , They should also include any replayâ€s or information they want to back them up .
c. The report will then be forwarded to the Panel of NBVRL to be reviewed. They will review the incident and forward there decisionâ€s to the director of NBVRL.
d. The director will review there findings and make a final decision based on there findings. His decision will then be forwarded to the parties involved.
e. Penalties will then be issued which could be in the forum of suspensions, deduction of points warnings, disqualification of the event or a penalty to fit the incident. All decisions by NBVRL will be final.
f. This process should be completed within 7 days if at all possible before the next race takes place and no longer than 14 days.
I hope we never if rarely use this system, but hope it clears a few things up. Also The director of operations reserves the right to have final say in all matters involving NBVRL.
